Itinerary
Itinerary

Japan is a wonderful tapestry of ancient traditions and futuristic technology. Favourite destinations for many visitors are Tokyo and Kyoto. These cities are packed with stunning sights and make good main bases for day trips. Travel further afield and experience overnight stays in traditional ryokan inns at the shrine island, Miyajima and picturesque Takayama in the Japanese Alps. Squeeze in various day trips. Prioritise a few main sights as must-sees at each destination; other places will depend on time. Be flexible and adaptable. Discover hidden gems along the way.

This 19 day itinerary is based on my Japan trip made in April 2016 during cherry blossom season. It is packed with details of sights, journey times, prices and opening times to make it easier to plan your own travels.
